The Switch Witch is a friendly little witch who visits on Halloween night once the kids are tucked in and the candy buckets are overflowing. She trades a portion of their candy for a special surprise — maybe a new book, toy, craft kit, or something they’ve been wishing for. It’s a little Halloween magic with a healthy twist!
💛 Why We Love It
In our house, the Switch Witch has become just as exciting as trick-or-treating! The kids love the mystery of what she’ll leave behind, and I love that it keeps the focus on fun rather than candy overload. It’s a win-win for everyone — a little imagination, a little magic, and a lot of smiles.
✨ How It Works
- Tell the Tale: Before Halloween, introduce your kids to the Switch Witch — she’s a kind witch who uses candy to power her broom!
- Trick-or-Treat as Usual: Let them collect candy to their heart’s content — that’s half the fun!
- The Great Switch: Before bedtime, have them go through their candy and pick out a portion to give to the Switch Witch. We tell them the more they give away, the bigger the prize! They leave the candy they are giving away in a bag outside their bedroom doors (makes it easier than sneaking in!)
- Morning Magic: While they sleep, the Switch Witch swaps the candy for a fun surprise!
